Retirees in Chislehurst celebrated the arrival of spring at Shepheard’s House last week when Julie Davis Flower Workshops visited the McCarthy and Stone Retirement Living Plus development to host a flower arranging masterclass.

Homeowners and guests had the opportunity to arrange a luxurious seasonal bouquet under the supervision of Julie Davis, who shared her experience and her passion for all things floral.

Everyone also enjoyed a selection of teas and light refreshments in the development’s club lounge, while they admired each other’s bouquets.

Kevin Sims, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, said: “It was wonderful to bring homeowners and members of the local community together at Shepheard’s House for a very spring-like celebration, and we are grateful to Julie Davis for leading such a lively and enjoyable event.

“We certainly have a lot of talented homeowners here – the bouquets were rather spectacular – and the many green-fingered retirees at Shepheard’s House made the most of the opportunity to brush up on their knowledge of spring blooms, just in time for the start of the new season.”

Comprising a selection of 54 one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 70 and over, Shepheard’s House provides everything people in Chislehurst could want for a relaxing retirement.

The shared lounge is perfect for socialising with new neighbours and homeowners can make the most of beautiful landscaped gardens knowing all the maintenance is taken care of. They can also feel secure in the knowledge that the Estates Manager is on hand to provide any help or support should they need it.

Bridging the gap between conventional Retirement Living and residential care, Retirement Living Plus enables older people to retain independence in the form of home ownership, yet still have the peace-of-mind of a range of additional security and support services. Bespoke personal packages are available for retirees who need extra support – from help with laundry or cleaning, to round the clock personal care to suit their individual needs.

Shepheard’s House features a high-quality table-service restaurant providing fresh cooked meals daily, a spacious and contemporary homeowners’ lounge and relaxing well-being suite, as well as beautiful landscaped gardens, and a convenient guest suite for when friends and family come to visit.

An Estates Manager is on hand to take care of the smooth-running of the development; while security entrance systems and 24-hour emergency call points provide added reassurance for homeowners and their families.

Located in the heart of Chislehurst, homeowners at Shepheard’s House are less than half a mile from a range of amenities, including a selection of independent retailers, a butchers and gastro pub. They also benefit from excellent transport links to the high street, Lewisham and Bromley, with the nearest bus stop situated just yards from the development.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.
