McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the new Retirement Living development, Caesars Place, has given Godalming Walking Football Club a welcome boost with a £400 donation.

Godalming Walking Football Club, which was founded in September 2017 by Jim Mellish and Mike Royce is based at Broadwater School Sports Centre in Godalming and has more than 20 members. The club meets weekly to train and plays both in friendlies and tournaments, but the main emphasis is on enjoying the sport and keeping fit and active.

Walking football, which is becoming increasingly popular across the country, is a slower paced version of the traditional game and is accessible to all regardless of age, health and ability.

McCarthy and Stone Area Sales Manager, Rosemarie Twine, attended Broadwater School Sports Centre to present the club with a cheque for £400.

Jim Mellish, Co-Founder of Godalming Walking Football Club, said: “We are delighted to receive this kind donation and gesture of support from McCarthy and Stone, and to have them on-board as sponsors this season. Our new kit looks fantastic and we hope it will bring us luck for the rest of the season!”

Georgina Akers, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, added: “As a company we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“When we were looking for an organisation in the local area to support, Godalming Walking Football Club stood out for the health and wellbeing benefits it provides. As a developer which strives to enrich the lives of retires through the opportunity to enjoy an independent retirement surrounded by like-minded individuals, it was our absolute pleasure to present this donation to the team and we wish them every success with their upcoming games and tournaments.”

Caesars Place, situated on Ockford Road in Godalming, comprises a selection of 31 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 60 and over. All those who make the development their home can enjoy an active, independent lifestyle, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when desired and privacy when needed.

Homeowners can make the most of the beautiful landscaped gardens, knowing all the maintenance is taken care of. They can also feel secure in the knowledge that the Concierge team is on hand to provide any help or support should they need it; and that friends and family can stay over whenever they choose in the development’s comfortable guest suite.
