First Homeowner Welcomed To Scott Place

13 May 2019

They say you have to embrace change and this is certainly the case for 83 year old Jean Holmes, who recently made the move to McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living development, Scott Place, in Lichfield.

Moving in January 2019, Jean was the first person to move in to the new Retirement Living development on Cross Keys, and she has enjoyed seeing the community at Scott Place grow. Jean said: “My daughter-in-law first made the enquiries on my behalf after a leaflet was posted through my door back in August 2018.

“As I registered my interest so early, I had the first pick of each of the apartments.  And being the first homeowner has also had its benefits.  It has been lovely seeing the community develop here, meeting each new person that arrives and making friends”.

After her husband passed, Jean decided that downsizing was the best option for her retirement, as the maintenance of the semi-detached house in Redlock Field was becoming too much. She commented: “Now I’m here, I am so much more relaxed, with less maintenance worries mean I have more time to do the things I enjoy.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living developments are designed to offer the over 60s the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when they want it and privacy when needed.

Jean added: “My family are very happy to see me enjoying my retirement at Scott Place. They feel comfortable knowing I am safe – and my property is too.  One of the major benefits that I have found since moving to Scott Place is that I have more freedom. I no longer have to rely on family members for lifts to the shops, I can simply take a stroll into the city centre and I feel so much more independent as I’m sure they do too!”

Clare Bright, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: “It gives us such great satisfaction when we see homeowners such as Mrs Holmes settle in to their new lifestyle so quickly. Jean is clearly making the most out of life at Scott Place and we are thrilled to hear that she is enjoying her newly-found independence in retirement.”

Offering an attractive selection of 44 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, Scott Place provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing and enjoyable retirement. Prices currently start from £230,000 for a one bedroom apartment and £320,000 for a two bedroom apartment.

Scott Place features a homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with friends; beautifully landscaped gardens; an on-site car park; and a convenient guest suite, should friends or relatives wish to stay. A House Manager is on hand to take care of the smooth-running of the development; while a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points provides added peace-of-mind.

Homeowners at Scott Place benefit from easy access to local amenities, including shopping centres, independent shops and restaurants. Good transport links by road and rail also allow an easy escape to the country or the possibility of visiting Birmingham and beyond.
