Fashion Show Fun for Julia's House at Cornmantle Court, Ringwood

20 May 2015

Ringwood retirees strutted their stuff down the runway at McCarthy and Stone’s Cornmantle Court development yesterday – all in the name of a good cause.

Staff and some of the glamorous homeowners at Cornmantle Court all played their part in the charity fashion show, modelling designs from M&Co and Roman Originals in the bright and airy homeowners’ lounge. Guests were treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly and delicious nibbles, with all proceeds from the afternoon donated to local children’s hospice, Julia’s House.

With some of the latest looks on display ranging from ‘Ladies that Lunch’ to ‘A Day at the Races’, sparkly tops, elegant dresses and light summer knits were just some of the creations that graced the catwalk.

Audrey Merrington, homeowner at Cornmantle Court, said: “We were all practising our best Twiggy poses in the run up to the event, and it was great fun feeling like a supermodel for an afternoon! It was such a treat to be able to try out some of the latest looks and admire all of the lovely clothes on offer.”

Jacqui Meenan, Regional Sales and Marketing Director from McCarthy and Stone South West, comments: “It was fantastic to welcome so many new faces down to the development yesterday – and to see some more familiar ones taking their turn down the runway! Homeowners and staff all had a brilliant time, and we’d like to thank M&Co and Roman Originals for their involvement in the afternoon. The event also proved to be the perfect opportunity for retirees and their loved ones to benefit from a tour to see the enjoyable and hassle-free lifestyle on offer at Cornmantle Court first-hand, and we’re looking forward to seeing them all again soon.”

Caroline Attreed, Corporate Fundraiser for Julia’s House added: “We are thrilled that companies such as McCarthy and Stone are taking such an interest in the work that we do, and we appreciate the huge effort that all of the ladies made to support us.  Julia’s House relies on donations to be able to run our lifeline services for families with very poorly children who are not expected to live into adulthood. The funds raised will help to ensure that we can continue to deliver essential 24/7 support to families, helping them make the most of their precious time together.”

McCarthy and Stone is committed to helping people stay independent for longer and Cornmantle Court offers the independence of retaining home ownership, while living in a secure, low maintenance and energy efficient apartment. What’s more, with all the maintenance of all external and communal areas taken care of, homeowners can spend more time enjoying their retirement with family and friends.

Facilities include a homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. The development will also benefit from its very own House Manager, who will ensure the smooth running of the development, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points for added peace of mind for both homeowners and their families.

Situated just half a mile from Ringwood town centre, Cornmantle Court benefits from close proximity to a host of local shops and amenities including The Furlong Shopping Centre, and the popular weekly market held in Ringwood High Street.
