McCarthy & Stone Assisted Living at Windsor House

McCarthy & Stone is inviting the over 70s in South Yorkshire to find out more about the benefits of an Assisted Living apartment and the personal support and care services on offer at its Windsor House development in Sheffield.

The retirement developer is currently building 64 private apartments on Abbeydale Road, which when complete, will provide a real alternative for older people living locally, bridging the gap between conventional retirement developments and residential care.

Designed to offer continued home ownership and all the help needed to enjoy life and maintain independence, each apartment will comprise one or two double bedrooms, a lounge and dining room, a fully appointed kitchen and an inclusively designed bathroom.

Plus, for a limited time only, those opting to purchase off plan can benefit from up to £10,000 discount off their chosen apartment.

Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, explains:
“Whatever your reason for moving, why not discover the benefits of Assisted Living – from having an estates team on site 24 hours a day, domestic assistance and flexible personalised care packages, convenient guest accommodation and an on-site restaurant.

“All our apartments are designed to be wheelchair-friendly, and if you've got a mobility scooter, there's a secure mobility scooter room to park and charge it. If bending down and lifting is a concern, inside our apartments you'll notice that the ovens and plug sockets are at waist height. Light switches are illuminated to make them easier to find, and kitchen windows are operated at the touch of a button so you don't have to stretch across the work surface.

“In shared areas we make sure there's a handrail in all corridors so you can move around the development with confidence. In the laundry room, we also make sure that our washing machines are raised so that you don't need to bend down to use them. Should you need immediate assistance, no matter where you are in the development, your pendant alarm can be used to alert us.”

The development will also have its own on site care team, YourLife Management Services (a partnership between McCarthy & Stone and Somerset Care Group), who will meet with purchasers, and their family, to agree a personal care package.  They will monitor residents to make sure they’re receiving all the help they need to be sure that they only pay for the additional care and support required. Personal care and support packages can include anything from having company on shopping or social trips, to medication prompting. Residents can choose McCarthy & Stone’s care service or choose from a number of approved registered care agencies in the locality.

In addition to offering low maintenance, age exclusive apartments, the retirement developer also provides a range of financial services, including a pension annuity service, equity release, legal services and guaranteed funeral plans.
