Debbie McGee Joins Southborough Retirees for 'Swinging Sixties' Celebrations At Southborough Gate

17 July 2019

The people of Southborough joined ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Star, Debbie McGee, for a 1960s themed summer garden party at McCarthy and Stone’s new Southborough Gate Retirement Living development on Pinewood Gardens.

Debbie McGee joined homeowners and guests at the new development, which features a stylish collection of privately-owned one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments. Guests who attended the special event enjoyed admiring the Vespa’s on display at the development, while also enjoying live entertainment, provided by a sixties singer, Vintage Sensation.

Attendees at the garden party had the opportunity to chat with Debbie one-on-one, and to meet the friendly McCarthy and Stone team at the development. Guests also had the opportunity to find out more about how they could enjoy their retirement in a quality, low maintenance apartment, designed exclusively for those aged 60 and over.

Speaking of the event, Debbie McGee commented: “It was an absolute pleasure to go back to the Sixties for such a fun garden party.  I enjoyed meeting guests and staff, and it was great to see first-hand what a fantastic development Southborough Gate is and the many benefits it will bring to retirees.”

Julie Ward, National Sales Director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We are very proud of Southborough Gate and it was our pleasure to showcase this superb new development with such an enjoyable event. All of our homeowners and guests had their own memories of the Sixties and it was great to turn back the clock and celebrate this era in style.  The McCarthy and Stone team would like to say thank you to Debbie McGee – and all of our attendees – for joining us.”

Southborough Gate comprises a collection of 43 one and two bedroom privately-owned Retirement Living apartments, currently priced from £343,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, and £420,000 for a two-bedroom apartment with rental options available.

The development features a stunning homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with new-found friends; beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax; and a convenient guest suite, should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. A House Manager takes care of the smooth running of the development, while a secure entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points provide added peace-of-mind.

Southborough Gate homeowners also benefit from Southborough’s desirable location, within easy reach of Tonbridge and Royal Tunbridge Wells. For those who wish to stay closer to home, Southborough boasts a selection of cafes, pub and restaurants, as well as picturesque walking and cycling routes.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade, which is every year the awards have been run.
