Homeowners at McCarthy and Stone’s Birch Place development on Dukes Ride in Crowthorne are celebrating after beating off competition from around the region to be presented with an award for ‘Best regional interior of the South East’.

Judged by Regional Managing Director, Peter Ford, and Regional Sales and Marketing Director, Kevin Simms, the McCarthy and Stone awards initiative puts the spotlight on its portfolio of 18 developments in its South East region, which extends from Reading down to Tenterden.

The Birch Place Retirement Living Plus development, which scooped the award for ‘Best regional interior of the South East’, features an open plan club lounge and bistro. The club lounge opens onto the development’s landscaped gardens, and the light, bright games area makes a sociable space for homeowners and guests.

Grant Bolam, Managing Director at HQC interiors which designed the interior scheme for Birch Place, said: “We’re so pleased that Birch Place has been awarded Best Regional Interior of the South East. May Shaw, our interior designer has been working closely with McCarthy and Stone for the last thirty years and created this designed specifically for Birch Place.

“Taking its inspiration from the development’s name, there is a stunning focal point in the foyer – a beautiful linear but natural tree mural, which sets the tone for sculptural wall lighting comprising of twisted twigs in metal form.

“Elegance was key when designing the scheme, and the palette chosen to create the look was a mixture of silvers, greys and soft blue tones. Within the communal areas, the wall coverings echo the theme with a thin metallic stripe, and there is simply-styled beautiful glassware.

“Homeowners reap the benefits of communal areas that function in many ways, be it formal dining, relaxing coffee breaks or enjoying the comfort of the club lounge. Clever zoning in the building design means that the bistro, dining, lounge and coffee area are all within a very spacious and light area, where the interior design works seamlessly throughout.”

Peter Ford, Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, commented: “We are delighted to award Birch Place with the accolade of Best Regional Interior of the South East. We design our developments with our homeowners in mind, and we wanted to celebrate Birch Place’s many stand-out features, including its beautiful club lounge, bistro and on-site hair and nail salon.”

Comprising a selection of 51 one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 70 and over, Birch Place provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing retirement. All those who make the development their home can enjoy an active, independent lifestyle, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when desired and privacy when needed.

They can also feel secure in the knowledge that the Estates Manager is on hand to provide any help or support should they need, while also benefiting from tailored domestic and personal assistance packages to help homeowners manage their day-to-day lives – and with a bistro-restaurant providing freshly cooked meals.

Offering up the best of British country life, there are plenty of boutique jewellery and clothing stores located in Crowthorne. The development is also only 100 yards away from a local doctors’ surgery and bus stop, which offers regular transport to the largest Marks & Spencer in Europe and the Meadows Shopping Centre in Camberley.
