Consultation begins on Retirement Living plans at Wolverhampton Road, Codsall
04 March 2016
McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading developer of retirement apartments, has acquired an interest in land at Brindley Garage, 141 Wolverhampton Road, Codsall.
McCarthy and Stone is proposing to redevelop the site with much-needed Retirement Living accommodation, high-quality landscaping and associated car parking. The plans are still at a preliminary stage and no planning application has been submitted to South Staffordshire District Council.
McCarthy and Stone is committed to engaging with the local community and has offered neighbouring residents and community representatives the opportunity to meet individually with the project team to discuss the early proposals. Where possible, local views and feedback will be incorporated into the plans as they are progressed.
A public exhibition for the wider local community to view and comment on the emerging plans is scheduled to be held in April, with dates still to be confirmed.
Darren Humphreys, Regional Managing Director of McCarthy & Stone said: “We are keen to develop a scheme which will positively contribute to the local community, both through the high-quality, attractive design proposed and by increasing local housing choice for older residents.”
McCarthy and Stone believe there is a strong local need for this type of specialist retirement accommodation in Codsall. The site is well located for homes for older people, close to bus services providing good links to nearby shops and the wider local area.
Residents of Retirement Living apartments are typically looking to ease the burden of maintaining a larger family property, which releases existing family houses back into the market for younger families.
