Midlands news - Construction underway in Dunstable
17 July 2012
McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading retirement builder, has started construction work on its new Later Living development in Dunstable.
The new development on High Street North will comprise 32 one and two bedroom apartments, built exclusively for the over 60s, ideally situated just a short walk from the town centre.
Richard Williams, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy & Stone, commented: “To make the most of your later years you want peace of mind, comfort and independence. Our new development will offer just this and more. The apartments will be low maintenance in design, and will benefit from modern fittings, good security and will have a number of specialist features.”
These features include 24-hour emergency call points, electrical sockets at a raised height to reduce bending, illuminated light switches, a camera entry system, easy grip lever taps in the bathroom and kitchen and energy efficient heating.
Residents will also be able to enjoy landscaped gardens, socialise and relax in the shared lounge and invite family and friends to stay in the development’s guest suite. A laundry room, lift and private parking will also be located on site.
Apartments will be available to buy off plan in late 2012 with first occupations taking place by summer 2013.
