Community Spirit at McCarthy & Stone Whitefields Court

With regular coffee mornings and afternoon teas to enjoy, homeowners are never short of company at McCarthy & Stone’s White Fields Court Retirement Living development in Whitfield, Kent.

The development, which first opened its doors last March 2014, has been designed specifically with community in mind, and has provided the ideal location for a number of homeowners to start living their lives to the full.

Barbara Cornelius, 83, was one of the first residents to move in to White Fields Court. She said: “Since I moved in from my former home across the road, everyone has been very nice. Roy Chantrill, one of the sales consultants, has been brilliant and made the move very straightforward.”

“There is a lovely community feel here. I always attend the weekly coffee mornings where we have a really good catch up,” she added.

Mrs Cornelius’ comments are echoed by fellow homeowner, Mrs Betty Deal: “Everyone is very friendly and sociable. I sometimes tell my husband that I’m just popping to the lounge area and I end up being gone for a quite a while as I get chatting with different people!”

“It was a big move for us having lived in our former home for 30 years, but we’ve been made to feel so welcome and we are really enjoying life,” said Betty.

As well as coffee mornings, many of the homeowners currently use their free time to get together and catch up at the regular farmer’s market and WI meetings, which take place at the Whitfield Village Hall, situated next to White Fields Court. There is also a keep fit session being planned for the coming months as homeowners look to stay healthy in later life.

Mrs Sheila Howard, 70, is also taken by the lifestyle McCarthy & Stone offers: “My husband and I love it here. With our children living a long way away, it is perfect for our family situation as everything is taken care of by McCarthy & Stone.”

“The community is great and everyone likes to socialise, especially at our coffee mornings that take place every week. They are so popular that my husband, Brian, and I are looking to set up another one on Sundays!”

McCarthy & Stone is currently selling a range of 32 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments at White Fields Court on Manley Close in Whitfield, specifically designed for later life. The development offers a low maintenance lifestyle, in an environment that offers companionship, privacy and security to provide complete peace of mind for both purchasers and their families. Prices currently start from £151,950 and there are only four apartments left on sale.

Doreen Elson, 78, who moved to White Fields Court in January 2014, is another happy homeowner and is very positive about her move to the development: “This is exactly the lifestyle I was looking for - everything is taken care of and I have more time to socialise. It feels like I have started life all over again!”
