Branksome Senior Site Manager Secures National Pride in The Job Award

23 July 2019

Jeff Blackman, Senior Site Manager for McCarthy and Stone’s Clarendon House in Branksome, is celebrating after picking up a coveted Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Builders’ Council (NHBC).

Now in its 39th year, the Pride in the Job Awards recognise site managers across the country who are at the top of their profession and are creating homes of an outstandingly high standards. A total of 450 have been selected as winners at this stage, from around 16,000 entrants, putting Jeff in the top three percent of UK site managers.

The judging process for the awards is extremely rigorous. As well as undergoing spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, each site manager is assessed across over 44 areas of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership, and organisational skills. Only those who demonstrate exceptional standards and outstanding quality are presented with an award.

This isn’t the first time Jeff has been given a prestigious award for his work on a McCarthy and Stone development. He also picked up a Pride in the Job Quality award and an NHBC Seal of Excellence award when working at Horizons in Poole.

Commenting on his latest awards success, Jeff said: “At McCarthy and Stone, every last detail is considered throughout the build programme and I am proud to lead a construction team that shares a commitment to quality in every aspect of our work. This ethos ensures that we work together to consistently deliver completed developments of the highest standards and it is fantastic that this has been recognised at an industry level.”

A total of 10 McCarthy and Stone site managers have received a Pride in the Job Quality Award this year, continuing the company’s remarkable run of success in an important quality-driven awards sector.

Shane Paull, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone Southern, said: “The dedication and professionalism shown by our talented team of site managers ensures that our high quality retirement communities provide older people in Branksome and beyond with an option that enriches their later years in many ways.  I am delighted that Jeff has received this accolade from the NHBC and he has helped to continue McCarthy and Stone’s remarkable record of success in an important quality-driven award sector.”
Jeff and all the successful site managers from across the UK will be invited to regional awards ceremonies in the autumn.  They will also go on to compete for NHBC Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards.

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive Steve Wood, said: “Launched nearly 40 years ago, Pride in the Job has been instrumental in driving up the quality of new homes. Despite the challenges the industry has faced in recent times, this year’s winners have kept their focus on delivering high quality new homes for their customers.

“A site manager’s role is undoubtedly one of the toughest in house building and their drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition. Receiving a Quality Award is a great achievement for any site manager. It’s no surprise that Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction as these homes are without doubt among the best the UK has to offer.  Congratulations to all the 2019 Quality Award winners.”
