Assisted Living (Extra Care) scheme and nursery approved for development in Stony Stratford

09 November 2015

Milton Keynes Council has approved McCarthy and Stone’s planning application to redevelop the former St Giles residential home in Stony Stratford with 52 much needed Assisted Living (Extra Care) apartments and a pre-school nursery.

The scheme will make a positive contribution to Stony Stratford by providing two community assets which have been specifically sought by the local community.
Ali Maruf, Regional Managing Director (North London), said:

“It was clear from engaging with local residents that Stony Stratford needs more specialist retirement accommodation in order to meet a recognised demand. Our new development, off Vicarage Road will help address this whilst providing a high quality development which enhances the local area”

Mr Maruf continued “Re-introducing nursery provision in Stony Stratford has been a long running aspiration of the local community. Sympathetically redeveloping the onsite Grade II listed ‘Stables’ building was an ideal solution, and the new facility will clearly benefit the local community”.

McCarthy and Stone’s scheme will introduce a sensitively designed scheme which reflects the character of the local area. McCarthy and Stone’s Assisted Living (Extra Care) developments provide on-site care team 24 hours a day, a restaurant and dining room, homeowners’ lounge, guest suite for visitors and lift access to all levels.
The new development will also provide professional landscaping across the site as well as 39 car parking spaces, including 26 spaces for residents, staff and visitors of the Assisted Living (Extra care) development and 13 spaces to serve the pre-school nursery.
