Alresford club bowled over by McCarthy and Stone donation

Bowls Club - McCarthy and Stone - Donation

McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the Wayfarer Place Retirement Living Plus development, which is currently under construction on The Dean in New Alresford, has shown its support for Alresford Bowling Club with a £500 donation.

A friendly lawn bowls club situated on Sun Lane, Alresford Bowling Club will invest most of the funds from McCarthy and Stone into the maintenance of its green, so all those who play at the club can enjoy the great British sport in the very best conditions.  The contribution will also help to cover the cost of promotional leaflets which will be distributed as part of a drive to recruit more members.

Angela Peel, chairman of Alresford Bowling Club, was joined by Club Captain Steve Day, to receive a cheque for £500 from Julie Mansbridge, Sales Executive at McCarthy and Stone’s Wayfarer Place Retirement Living Plus development.

Angela Peel said: “I am delighted to receive this donation from McCarthy and Stone on behalf of all at the club.  We have an important and busy season ahead of us and having a well-maintained green is essential to the experience of our members and visitors.  Financial support from local businesses can make a real difference to the continued success of the club and we look forward to building on our relationship with McCarthy and Stone in the future.”

Julie Mansbridge, McCarthy and Stone Sales Executive at Wayfarer Place, said: “As a company, we appreciate that our responsibility is not only to build quality, purpose-built retirement communities, but also to create a positive legacy in the areas in which we build.

“Alresford Bowling Club is widely known within the region.  A welcoming and sociable group, it provides somewhere for people – young and old – to meet and make new friends. The club is of great benefit to people living in the Alresford area, including future homeowners at Wayfarer Place, and we are delighted to be able to support such a worthy local cause.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living Plus developments are thoughtfully-designed exclusively for the over 70s to provide the very best in modern, independent living within a safe and secure environment.

When complete in June, Wayfarer Place will represent an ideal downsizing option for retirees seeking the privacy that comes with owning your own home, but with extra support available – in the form of domestic assistance, such as help with laundry or cleaning, and 24-7 tailored care packages.

The new retirement community will feature social spaces including a large Club Lounge, perfect for socialising with new neighbours; an on-site bistro, which will serve chef-prepared meals daily; and landscaped gardens, maintained by McCarthy and Stone’s expert team.  A hotel-style guest suite will also be available for when family and friends come to stay.

Built with security in mind, Wayfarer Place will include a camera entry system and each apartment will also have 24-hour emergency call points for added peace-of-mind.  An Estates Manager, along with an experienced support team, will be available day or night to oversee the running of the development and to offer any help.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 13 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 13 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.
