McCarthy and Stone’s team in the South East putted their way to victory last week, when it raised a spectacular £40,000 for Royal Voluntary Service at a charity golf day at Foxhills Golf Club.

The Woking-based McCarthy and Stone team rounded up more than 70 golfers to attend the event, including key headline sponsors; Levanter Developments and Thomas Gray Ltd. The golf day formed part of the retirement housebuilder’s 40th anniversary celebrations. All attendees were entered in teams of four and they took to the green for the shot gun start, with Team Levanter Developments taking home the trophy.

Following an afternoon of golf, everyone was ready to head to the 19th hole. McCarthy and Stone hosted a drinks reception and evening dinner in which over 150 people attended. A silent auction was also held to boost the funds raised for Royal Voluntary Service, with prizes such as Champagne Afternoon Tea for two at The Ivy in Cobham, a weekend stay at The Grand Brighton, and a meal for two at The Red Lion in Horsell.

To commemorate 40 years since McCarthy and Stone opened its very first retirement development, the award-winning housebuilder has partnered with older person’s charity, Royal Voluntary Service, in 2017, with the aim of raising over £130,000 in support of projects across the South East and the rest of the country.

Brendon O’Neill, Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, comments: “The Charity Golf day was an incredibly successful event and, not only did everyone have a thoroughly enjoyable day, we were absolutely thrilled to raise £40,000 for Royal Voluntary Service.

“I’m really proud of the South East team for organising a very memorable day, and we are all very grateful to our sponsors and supporters who have helped us to make a difference to the lives of many older people with this superb donation.  What better way to mark 40 years of McCarthy and Stone than to create such a positive legacy.”

McCarthy and Stone’s South East region currently has a portfolio of 31 developments selling or under construction and, due to its ongoing growth and expansion, it is gearing up to launch 12 new developments over the next year. Each individual development will be carefully designed to suit the requirements of older people, offering homeowners the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment.
