West Bridgford Cattery Enjoys Purr-fect Start to New Year

Millwood cattery - meet kittens 'mccarthy' and 'stone'

West Bridgford charity, Millwood Cat Rescue, received a welcome New Year treat this week after a business arrangement resulted in a somewhat more charitable transaction!

When retirement property developer, McCarthy & Stone, employed the consultancy services of national town planning housing specialists, Three Dragons, they in turn asked West Bridgford resident John Pankhurst, a retired Local Government Officer for specialist advice. At John’s request, rather than agree a fee for this, all parties felt a donation to Millwood Cat Rescue was a much more benevolent way to settle accounts.

A cheque for £500 was presented to cattery manager, Ronnie McMillen, this week, where John Pankhurst and Lorraine Walker, professional advisor for McCarthy & Stone, were introduced to two of the kittens benefiting from the donation – now named ‘McCarthy’ and ‘Stone’, in recognition of their local sponsor.

Ronnie McMillen, who runs the cattery, comments: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this donation and it’s nice to see that not all business transactions are always for financial gain! We very much rely on the goodwill of people living and working locally as, without their support, we couldn’t operate, especially at this time of year.”

John Pankhurst commented: “I’ve been a supporter of Millwood Cat Rescue for many years now and try wherever possible to help out. This just seemed like the ideal opportunity.”

Lorraine Walker, senior sales consultant for McCarthy & Stone, commented: “We were more than happy to make a donation to a cause that is not only dear to John, but also to many other people living locally. We’re thrilled the kittens have been named McCarthy and Stone and very much hope they’ll find loving owners to take them home.”

If you think you can offer McCarthy and Stone, or any of the other cats at kittens at Millwood Cat Rescue, a loving home, please contact Ronnie on 0115 923 5704.
