McCarthy & Stone granted planning permission for £21.6m scheme near Milton Keynes

McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, has been granted planning consent for a £21.6m development of 58 dwellings for the over 70s in Olney, Milton Keynes, having been successful at appeal. 

The development will consist of 48 Retirement Living PLUS apartments across a range of tenures. It will also provide flexible domestic and personalised care and support packages from McCarthy & Stone’s on-site team, as well as an open-plan bistro, shared lounge, function room, wellness suite and guest suite.

In addition, the site will include 10 bungalows built to McCarthy & Stone’s Retirement Living specification aimed at the more active older homeowner, but which will also provide on-site support and maintenance for peace of mind as well as the option of care packages delivered from the Retirement Living PLUS care team.

The site is within the settlement boundary of Olney, a popular market town in the borough of Milton Keynes and close to the River Great Ouse, offering an excellent blend of country living while still being close to a unique mix of independent boutique shops and services. The design of the development respects the local vernacular and incorporates areas of stone walling in keeping with the traditional material used within Olney town centre, less than a mile away.
