McCarthy & Stone Celebrates its 1,000th Success with Special Guests
21 June 2013
Veteran TV and radio personality, Nicholas Parsons OBE, was the guest of honour as McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading provider of retirement apartments, celebrated the launch of its landmark 1,000th development in Burgess Hill on Thursday 20th June.
Mr Parsons was joined by McCarthy & Stone’s CEO, Mark Elliott, and a host of local dignitaries including the Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council, Cllr Gordon Marples; the Deputy Leader, Cllr Gary Marsh, and the Mayor of Burgess Hill, Chris Thomas-Atkin. Together, they officially marked the historic milestone at the Later Living and Assisted Living developments, Clayton Court and Corbett Court, located on The Brow in Burgess Hill, Sussex.
The exclusive reception, which included a guided tour of the developments and their impressive facilities, along with speeches from Mr Parsons, Mark Elliott and Regional Managing Director, Nigel Sibley, offered dignitaries the chance to mingle with new homeowners over an informal celebratory luncheon.
Following the event, Mr Parsons commented:
“McCarthy & Stone does an excellent job of championing those in their later years. Its commitment to developing lifestyles that offer all the support and facilities you need to be able to live a wonderful later life is evident with the properties they have created here at Burgess Hill.
“It was an honour to be able to celebrate this impressive landmark in the company’s history with both the McCarthy & Stone team and the people who have already started to build a superb community at Clayton Court and Corbett Court.”
McCarthy & Stone’s CEO Mark Elliott was delighted with the reception the event received from guests and homeowners alike, adding: “It was a pleasure to be a part of such a celebration, which is a true testament to the wonderful services that all of our developments provide across the country.
“Nicholas was an inspirational guest of honour and the residents jumped at the chance to tell him about their lives at Clayton Court and Corbett Court during the day. It was also a fantastic opportunity to welcome local councillors and other dignitaries and to show them first-hand what life is like in a McCarthy & Stone scheme.”
The Burgess Hill developments offer both of McCarthy & Stone’s current product propositions on one site. Clayton Court, a complex of 46 stylish Later Living properties, is exclusively for active over 60s. Meanwhile, Corbett Court, a collection of 56 Assisted Living apartments, offers those over 70 a host of optional care and support packages, including domestic assistance, that help make life that little bit easier. In addition, 22 apartments are provided in a separate block as affordable housing and are managed by Affinity Sutton.
Both Clayton Court and Corbett Court include a shared lounge, a hotel-style guest suite, landscaped gardens and a laundry room. As standard in all McCarthy & Stone properties, each individual apartment incorporates thoughtful features such as 24-hour emergency call points, electrical sockets at a raised height to reduce bending, a camera-entry system, easy-grip lever taps in the bathroom and kitchen and energy efficient heating.
Those opting for Assisted Living at Corbett Court will also benefit from one hour of domestic assistance each week as part of their service charge, and flexible personal care can be provided by the on-site team for those individuals who require it. An on-site restaurant is also provided so that residents can enjoy a hot meal 365 days a year. All management services in McCarthy & Stone’s developments are provided in-house, and the care and support services in its Assisted Living developments are delivered by YourLife, a Care Quality Commission registered company created by McCarthy & Stone and Somerset Care.
Prices currently start at £187,950 at Clayton Court and £212,950 at Corbett Court. For further information, please call 0800 201 4743.
