McCarthy & Stone calls for choirs to 'sing your heart out'

07 September 2017

McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, is calling for community choirs across the country to take centre stage later in the year, when they take part in Sing Your Heart Out – a fundraising initiative from older people’s charity, Royal Voluntary Service.

As part of its 40th year celebrations, McCarthy and Stone has joined forces with Royal Voluntary Service to support the charity’s annual festive fundraising initiative. As such, teams from developments across the country have announced they are on the lookout for pitch-perfect choirs to perform in the homeowners’ lounge at Retirement Living developments in early December.

Choirs can be amateur or professional – the only limitation will be on numbers, with groups of approximately 15 or less welcome to apply.  All those interested are invited to email with brief information on their choir, marking the subject header “Call for Choirs Bridlington.”  The deadline for applications is September 30th and all successful choirs will be contacted by mid to late October.

Sing Your Heart Out is a nationwide event that gives local people the opportunity to put on a dedicated concert in aid of Royal Voluntary Service. It doesn’t matter what song the choir sings, how loud they sing, or even who they sing it with, just as long as everyone sings their hearts out together. By raising money on the day, it is hoped choirs will raise the roof, raise money, and in doing so, raise the spirits of those vulnerable older people the Royal Voluntary Service supports.

Susan Parker, House Manager at Chestnut Court, a McCarthy & Stone development, said: “We know music and singing can be a powerful force in helping people in so many different ways, which is why Sing Your Heart Out is such a fantastic initiative to be involved in.

“Our participation in this fundraising event marks a fitting end to the celebrations for McCarthy and Stone’s landmark 40th year and our partnership with Royal Voluntary Service, and we are urging talented people to come forward for their chance to join us later in the year to hit the high notes and spread a little festive cheer. More importantly, together we can raise vital cash to help transform the lives of older people.”
