In the heart of the city you’ll find the magnificent Winchester Cathedral. This spectacular medieval cathedral has been welcoming visitors for over 900 years and is one of the country’s most historically significant buildings. There are daily guided tours that can be perfectly rounded off with a trip to the Cathedral’s Refectory for afternoon tea.

Other historical sites in Winchester include the ruins of Winchester Castle and the Peninsular Barracks, which houses a number of military museums, including the Royal Green Jackets Museum and the Gurkha Museum.

Then there’s the impressive Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium – the perfect place for science buffs - and grandchildren - to learn about the wonders of the universe. This spectacular building is the largest Planetarium in the UK.
