Retire to the Scottish Coast

Nicole Baines

Nicole Baines

Make the most of retirement living with these popular developments situated on the Scottish Coast.

We’ve been blessed with a truly spectacular Scottish summer so far, which has prompted sun-seekers in their thousands to flock to the nation’s coastal towns to take advantage of the sea, sand and ice-cream vans which line the sun-kissed shores.
It’s hardly surprising that these vibrant coastal communities are often the first choice for retirees looking to make the most of their yonder years, offering an abundance of local events and activities in some of Scotland’s most beautiful locations. As the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder we are proud to have developments in some of the nation’s most sought-after coastal settings including North Berwick, Anstruther and a new Retirement Living PLUS development coming soon to Prestwick.

But what makes these luxury apartments so popular with our homeowners? With their stylish design, luxury interiors and convenient locations in the heart of the community, each of our developments offer something truly special.

Beacon Court, Anstruther

Our Beacon Court development is situated in the pretty coastal town of Anstruther in Fife and benefits from an abundance of things to see and do in the local area, allowing for a fulfilling and active retirement.

With deep-rooted origins in the fishing industry, it’s hardly surprising that the town is famous for its’ award-winning fish and chips, courtesy of the Anstruther Fish Bar which scooped the prize for Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in 2002. It’s also home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum, which is popular with locals and visitors alike who are keen to find out more about the towns rich heritage.

Anstruther also benefits from an abundance of local wildlife thanks to its unspoilt coastal location, with regular sightings of puffins, seals and even porpoises and dolphins! It’s easy to get up close and personal with nature in Anstruther, with regular Pleasure Cruises from the harbour to the nearby Isle of May, a national nature reserve and much-loved spot for a day trip.

The town also attracts history enthusiasts thanks to its close proximity to the beautiful Kellie Castle, where medieval structure meets Victorian architecture to great effect. With its fairy-tale towers, fragrant rose gardens and lush woodland surroundings, you could easily spend hours exploring this rich tap of Scottish history, which is only a ten-minute drive from our development.

Beacon Court itself is designed to allow our homeowners to make the most of the scenic surroundings. A number of apartments offer breath-taking sea views and all of our homeowners benefit from a stunning communal roof terrace, which offers panoramic views over the Firth of Forth.

Tantallon Court, North Berwick

The pretty seaside town of North Berwick is home to our popular Tantallon Court development, which commands a fantastic location in the town centre, offering easy access to local activities and amenities.

The stunning coastal landscape benefits from two beautiful sandy bays which boast an abundance of marine life, including seals, dolphins and whales. Nature enthusiasts can also take advantage of the regular wildlife cruises from the main harbour, which take visitors and residents to marvel at Bass Rock, a local phenomenon described by David Attenborough as ‘one of the wildlife wonders of the world’. This coastal haven attracts a wide variety of seabirds, which can be studied in more detail at the Scottish seabird centre situated in the main town.

North Berwick also offers a wealth of things to see and do for history enthusiasts. The local ruins of Tantallon and Dirleton Castles boast spectacular views of the sea, which can be admired alongside their rich historic backgrounds. If you wish to explore further, Hailes castle is also easy to access, around a 20-minute drive from our development.

North Berwick is also a fantastic option for those seeking an active retirement, with two local golf courses nearby boasting impressive facilities. If you love the outdoors, you can even climb North Berwick Law and admire the mesmerising views across the ocean.

The development itself is now over 70% sold, with a selection of stylish one-bedroom apartments remaining – perfect for retirees looking for a vibrant home in heart of the local community.

Prestwick, Retirement Living Plus

Our latest Retirement Living PLUS development is coming soon to Prestwick, and it’s the perfect solution for those looking for an independent retirement by the coast with a little extra help.

The development will be situated adjacent to the promenade, with sea views from selected apartments and a stunning communal roof terrace overlooking the beach. Homeowner’s can enjoy one hour of domestic care per week, with the option to request additional assistance if required.

Prestwick itself boasts a large retirement community, with a wide range of activities catering to every taste. For those seeking an active retirement, the local area is home to two prestigious golf courses in addition to a popular bowling club. For those looking for something a little more adventurous, there’s even the Prestwick sailing club!

The vibrant town centre is bursting with local shops, bars and restaurants, acting as the hub of the local community and perfect for spending the day shopping and lunching with friends and family.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the endless opportunities for long walks along the coastal promenade, and the development also offers easy access to many local walking routes. Remember, well behaved pets are welcome at all of our developments, and they’ll undoubtedly fall in love with the relaxed coastal lifestyle and regular walks along the beach at Prestwick.
