Why Essex?

Essex is a county with charming towns and villages nestled around stunning green spaces have inspired generation after generation to settle somewhere in the county’s rolling countryside. Mile upon mile of rugged Essex coastline gives way to a landscape of tidal inlets, teaming with wildlife which gives you 350 miles of coastline to explore.

A recent study by the Halifax put the spotlight on the little-known district of Uttlesford which topped the survey of the best rural places to live. Encompassing the towns of Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow, Thaxted and the village of Elsenham the area well located for Stansted airport.

Essex has countless attractions - from breath-taking historic buildings to formal gardens such as the oldest wooden church in the world at Greensted, Audley End House and Gardens near Saffron Walden and the Colchester Castle Museum.  Each historic site has its own distinctive atmosphere and character, just like our apartments.

Steeped in a rich maritime tradition, Essex has one of the longest coastlines in the UK, with fantastic seafood and wine at the mysterious and wild Mersea Island, or take in the resort of Walton-on-the-Naze, or explore the cockle sheds at Old Leigh, just outside Southend-on-Sea.

Our retirement homes in Essex have excellent transport links to London - and around the county - so it’s easy to organise trips to all of the attractions, and even easier for loved ones to get to you.
