Why Scotland?

With historic castles, picturesque lochs and stunning countryside, Scotland is a great location for those wishing to retire in an area of natural beauty. There are a number of picturesque thriving towns and cities in and around Scotland.

Perth is one of Scotland’s most desirable locations, especially for those interested in nature and countryside living. Close to the River Tay and with a number of country parks, Perth offers plenty of opportunities to explore.

Perth is also home to an extensive range of independent boutiques and high street stores. For those that enjoy sports, outdoor bowling, fishing, swimming and golfing facilities are all readily available.

If you wish to travel further across Scotland, Perth also boasts good connections to numerous destinations. Another notable location is the city of Edinburgh. As Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh is one of the most thriving cities in the UK, boasting a mixture of contemporary leisure activities with history still at the heart of the city and a variety of historic attractions.

Linlithgow is a good option for individuals looking for retirement homes in Scotland as it boasts a mixture of contemporary amenities and historic attractions. As the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, this town also hosts a wide variety of leisure facilities including a bowling green, golf course and tennis courts.

Glasgow in the West of Scotland is also a good location with the desirable area of Giffnock in the south of the city is an ideal location to spend later life with a variety of nearby amenities including supermarkets, pharmacy and the world famous Whole Foods Market.

The West of Scotland also boasts a variety of other charming towns including Clarkston, Paisley and Bishopbriggs, all of which are central to local amenities and a variety of leisure facilities including bowling greens, golf clubs and tennis courts. Hamilton is also a flourishing town and has undergone a significant amount of development. Situated to the South of Scotland and nearby Strathclyde Country Park, it’s an ideal option for keen walkers.

East Kilbride, although a very new town, is also a popular place to live and is close to many of the neighbouring local towns and cities including Rutherglen, Eaglesham Bothwell and Newton Mearns.
