Christmas is just around the corner so ring in the Christmas season with these crowd-pleasing cocktail recipes.

Whether it’s for Christmas day, New Year’s Eve or the party season during the lead up to Christmas, you’re sure to find a drink that your family and friends will love.

Festive Chai White Russian

Ramp up the festive spirit with this classic white Russian with the addition of the warming spices of chai. This coffee cocktail is the perfect Christmas drink.

Colder autumn months call for the warming spices of chai. We’ve used it to make a twist on a classic white russian to tap into the trend for coffee cocktails.

All you need is:

  • 75ml chai-tea infused milk, cooled
  • 50ml vodka
  • 25ml coffee liqueur
  • Ice

Just put the the coffee liqueur in a glass and fill with ice. Mix the vodka with the chai tea, pour over the top and it is done.

Festive Pimms Cocktail

Looking for a festive cocktail recipe to really kick things off this Christmas? You'll need frothy egg white, sugar, chilled pomegranate juice, Pimms, lemons and ginger beer for this beauty.

  • 1 egg white, beaten until frothy
  • 50g granulated white sugar
  • 600ml pomegranate juice, chilled
  • 400ml Pimms
  • 1litre ginger beer, chilled

Method: Prep the glasses a few hours before the party. Tip the egg white and sugar into two separate, shallow bowls. Dip the rims of 10-12 glasses in the egg white, shake slightly to dribble off any excess, or dip them into a glass of Pimms, then dip into the sugar to coat and set aside to dry.

As your guests arrive, mix the pomegranate juice, Pimms, lemon juice and plenty of ice in a jug or two. Top up with ginger beer and pour into the prepared glasses.

Sherry Sour

If you are looking for a simple Christmas cocktail recipe, then this is yours. This easy-drinking sherry sour is sure to impress friends and family over the festive season.

All you need is 100g of caster sugar, 120ml of oloroso sherry, lemon juice and one egg white.

This is very simple to make - just combine the sugar with 100ml water and gently bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar is dissolved, then cool. This will make more sugar syrup than you need but will keep for a month in the fridge.

Put 40ml of the sugar syrup, the sherry, lemon juice and egg white in a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into 2 chilled coupe glasses.

Champagne Cocktail with Cointreau

This is a showstopper sparkling Christmas party cocktail which will definitely get you feeling festive.

After you have decorated the Champagne flutes, chill them by putting in the freezer for a short while or filling with ice for a few minutes.

  • 1 egg white
  • Sugar coloured or granulated
  • 300ml white grape juice
  • 150ml Cointreau
  • 75ml l ime cordial
  • 750ml sparkling wine or champagne, chilled

Method: Decorate the glasses for an extra special touch. Put the egg white and the sugar in two separate small bowls. Dip the rims of the glasses in the egg white and then in the sugar, so you have an even coating on the rim of each glass. Leave to set. Then mix the grape juice, cointreau and lime cordial in a jug. Chill until needed. Next, divide the cocktail base between your glasses to come about ⅓ of the way up the glass. Top up with chilled sparkling wine or Champagne and serve.

Snowflake Martini

Put on the Frozen soundtrack and pour a few of these to transform your own winter wonderland.

  • 3 oz. white chocolate liqueur
  • 2 oz. vanilla Vodka
  • 2 tbsp. creamIice
  • 1 lemon wedge, for rim
  • White sugar, for rim

Method: Using a lemon wedge, wet the rim of your martini glass. Dip in sanding sugar until rim is coated. In a cocktail shaker, combine white chocolate liqueur with vanilla vodka and heavy cream. Fill shaker with ice and shake well, then strain mixture into prepared glass and serve.

Dirty Snowman

Rumour has it that this boozy hot chocolate might make the cold winter weather more bearable. This can also become child friendly – just emit the Baileys!

  • 1/4 c. melted chocolate, for rim
  • 1/2 c. chocolate shavings
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 2 c. hot chocolate
  • 1/2 c. Baileys
  • Whipped cream, for serving

Method: Pour melted chocolate and chocolate shavings into separate shallow dishes. Dip rims of two mugs in melted chocolate then immediately dip in chocolate shavings. Using a medium cookie scoop, add a few scoops of ice cream into each mug. Pour hot chocolate and Baileys on top. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with any extra chocolate shavings and there you have it - the most over-the-top, indulgent spiked hot cocoa recipe—ever.

Cranberry-Apple Cider Punch

Cranberry juice gives this drink its gorgeous red hue. Garnish with a rosemary cranberry sprig for a festive touch to this mocktail.

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups apple cider, chilled
  • 2 cups ginger ale, chilled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups cranberry juice, chilled
  • Crushed ice

Method: In a small saucepan, combine the cranberries and water and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the cranberries pop and split. Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar. Let cool to room temperature (or chill in the refrigerator). In a drinks jug, pour in the cranberry mixture. Add the apple cider, ginger ale, lemon juice and cranberry juice, then mix. Serve in cups with crushed ice.

White Christmas Mojito

Dreaming of a white Christmas? Then this cocktail is for you – the coconut milk gives this festive rum drink its snow-topped appearance.

  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 8 mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white rum
  • 1 tablespoon coconut rum
  • 1/4 cup canned coconut milk
  • Sparkling water for topping
  • Pomegranate for serving

Method: In a glass, muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves until the leaves have broken down. Fill the glass half way with ice. In a blender, combine the white rum, coconut rum, and coconut milk and pulse until smooth. Pour over the ice and stir to combine. Then top with sparkling water, mint and pomegranate and enjoy!
