Don Keeps Claridge House Up To Date

Don revives development newsletter

Upon making the move with his wife to Claridge House two years ago, keeping an active lifestyle was something very important to Don Carter.

As a keen writer, Don set about reviving the in-house community newsletter last February and it’s now in its 15th edition! After relocating to our Littlehampton development it has meant that Don is able to spend a great deal of his free time researching and putting the newsletter together. Time he didn’t have before.

“I enjoy creating the newsletter for my fellow residents to read,” said Mr Carter. He went on to add “The newsletter still includes a section on Birthdays, but also now has welcomes and farewells, as well as notices from the management team here at Claridge House. I also like to have some fun with it and I’ve previously written pieces from an ‘imaginary resident’, where I can throw-in some of my finest jokes!”

Don had lived around 10 miles from Claridge House, but following his wife’s onset of Parkinson’s disease, they decided that they would make the move to their new apartment, providing them with peace of mind that support is on hand 24 hours a day.

“The main attraction of moving to a McCarthy & Stone development was the quality of care. It is great that all of my wife’s needs are cared for and everyone is so helpful. We like having our own apartment. You can have privacy when you need it and company when you want it – we are very happy here.”

Don has also found the time to become a member of Claridge House’s special ‘liaison committee’, responsible for addressing issues affecting the running of the development.

“I am one of five members of the committee and we speak with different bodies, such as McCarthy & Stone management and the local council, to resolve issues that affect the Claridge House community. I then like to put any positive outcomes in my monthly newsletter for everyone to read about,” he said.

Claridge House consists of 58 one and two bedroom Tailored Care Living apartments designed specifically to provide a low-maintenance and enjoyable lifestyle.

Tailored Care Living at Claridge House provides the independence of retaining home ownership in an apartment designed around the differing needs of the homeowner. With a community-based environment and staff on site 24 hours a day, families can have peace of mind that their loved ones will always receive the right level of care and support they might need, as and when they need it.

Facilities also include a homeowners’ lounge, convenient guest accommodation, an on-site restaurant with table service and a lift. Tailored Care Living also offers specialist and personalised care packages. Prices currently start from £194,950.
