Topsham local wins McCarthy Stone photography competition

The competition, run to help celebrate the highly-anticipated sales release of our Pym Court development in Topsham, Devon, called for local residents to share photographs of their favourite scenery, wildlife, and landscapes from all corners of the town.

The competition was judged by the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver, who chose Paula’s sunset photograph, entitled Underway in Topsham, as the winning entry.

Paula, who was awarded £200 for winning the competition, said: “I love a sunset, I’d say I’m a little bit obsessed with taking photos of them as I’ve got thousands on my phone. The idea of photography amazes me, being able to capture a moving picture and looking into how you can capture something uniquely. I’d like to thank McCarthy Stone for running the competition, and to Councillor Trish Oliver for picking me as the winner.”

Councillor Trish Oliver commented: “I once went to Rick’s Cafe in Negril, Jamaica, which is supposed to be the most beautiful sunset in the world. Well, it wasn’t a patch on Topsham’s! The photo by Paula captured Topsham’s beauty so perfectly. Though, I have to say, all the entries were fantastic – each photographer should be really proud of their submission.”

Verity McKay, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, added: “All of the entries we received were brilliant, and I’d like to offer our congratulations to Paula for winning the competition. We have so many stunning views in and around Topsham and we were overwhelmed with the standard of the photographs we received.”

Once complete, Pym Court will provide everything the over 70s could want for an enjoyable and independent retirement. Bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care, an Estate Manager and experienced team will be on hand day and night to oversee the running of the development and will also provide tailored support packages to suit individual needs.

The development will feature a large communal lounge - perfect for getting to know new neighbours - as well as an on-site bistro, which will serve fresh and nutritious meal options for homeowners every day. Call 0800 310 0383 to register your interest.
