Build The ImaginationMcCarthy and Stone, the developer behind the Heathlands Retirement Living development on Beaconsfield Road in Farnham Common, has donated £500 to Farnham Common Community Library.

Farnham Common Community Library, which is located on Victoria Road, close to the village centre, is a valuable community facility.  Apart from providing a wide range of brand-new fiction and non-fiction books, the library has a wide programme of events, outings, charitable coffee mornings and regular children’s arts and crafts sessions. It also provides I.T. support for members and has a thriving book group.

Having been closed during lockdown, the library then operated on a restricted timetable with a ‘request and collect’ service also available (online and by phone) before reopening fully in early August.

Prior to lockdown, McCarthy and Stone’s Customer Sales Consultants, Jackie Spencer-Cavell and Jackie Chicken visited Farnham Common Community Library to handover a cheque for £500, which will be used to boost the library’s resources and improve its services.

Michael Mills, Chairman at Farnham Common Community Library, said: “While the library is already a hub for community life, we are continually looking for ways to add to our resources and to make our facilities even more welcoming for the people of Farnham Common.  Gestures such as this really do help to boost our funds and make a difference.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Customer Sales Consultant, Jackie Spencer-Cavell added: “As a company, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“We were delighted to present this donation to Farnham Common Community Library.  Not only are public libraries a haven for avid readers of all ages, they also offer many useful resources for those wanting to educate themselves, expand their horizons, or to simply engage with the local community. They represent a vital amenity to the area; and the team at McCarthy and Stone’s Heathlands development wishes everyone at Farnham Common Community Library every success for the future.”
