New Midlands Divisional Managing Director Katie Fisher

McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, has appointed Katie Fisher as its new Divisional Managing Director for the Midlands.

Katie brings a wealth of experience to McCarthy Stone. For the past three years, she has been CEO at St Andrew's Healthcare, a charity with both national and international reach, employing more than 4,000 people and delivering specialist mental healthcare services, education and research. Prior to this, Katie was CEO at the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust where she ran the NHS hospitals at Watford, St Albans and Hemel Hempstead, employing around 4,500 people and supporting 600,000 patients a year. Katie has exceptional organisational experience and has worked on large capital projects, including agreeing the business case for, and then delivering, Chase Farm Hospital, a c.£210 million publicly-funded project in Enfield, London.

Katie will lead McCarthy Stone’s Midlands division, which is one of its four operating divisions covering England and Wales and a key part of the organisation’s growth plans. Covering the area from East Anglia across to mid Wales, Katie is responsible for completing sales across a divisional portfolio of 26 retirement communities that are currently selling. The division has a further 26 sites in development and is looking to buy 16 new sites a year for the foreseeable future to expand the provision of suitable housing and care options for older people. Katie will manage the division’s yearly land and construction budget of c. £100 million.

John Tonkiss, McCarthy Stone’s Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that we have appointed someone of Katie’s calibre and experience. Not only does she have huge operational knowledge, she also understands the needs of older people and how better housing and care options for those in later life help reduce the pressures of our ageing population on the NHS and social care system. Katie will play a key role in our expansion plans across the group while continuing to improve the health and happiness of our customers.”

Katie added: “This is an exciting time to be joining McCarthy Stone as its Midlands portfolio expands and strengthens. I am a firm believer in the many benefits of retirement living, from keeping people healthy and encouraging independence, to fostering community and reducing loneliness. I am looking forward to helping the organisation and the Midlands’s division meet its growth ambitions.”

Five exciting flagship developments are currently underway in the Midlands including: Elizabeth Place in Market Harborough, Gibson Court in Woodhall Spa, Watson Place in Chipping Norton, Uplands Place in Cambourne, and Pine Gardens in Melton Mowbray. To find out more, please contact 0800 201 4811.
