Workouts you can do at home 

You don't have to hit the gym to get a bit fitter this winter. Here’s our top tips for getting the most of your home workouts, so you can start releasing endorphins and boosting your immune system from the comfort of your own living room.     

  1. Firstly, ensure you have space to exercise freely. Pop that pot that you may kick over by accident to the other side of the room.

  2. Ensure the floor is surface isn’t too slippy – you may like to treat yourself to a new mat if you plan to do floor-based routines.

  3. Don’t skip the warm up and cool down just because you’re at home. Stretching will help you avoid any injuries.

  4. If you don’t have any equipment at home, tin cans, or bottles of water (or wine!) are great alternatives.

  5. YouTube is filled with fantastic, free workouts, including yoga for all abilities. to follow along at home. 

Resistant training:

Resistant training can strengthen our bodies and reduce muscle deterioration. We need to use resistance that will transfer through our muscles and joints, making us stronger for longer. Movements can be a simple as rising up on the balls of your feet, slowly steeping up and down the bottom step, pushing up against a wall with your feet, and bicep curls with dumbbell (or a can of beans!) 

Pilates and Yoga:

Pilates consists of slow and controlled movements to help build core muscle strength. There are many videos online by professional to guide you through each step. The Balanced Life Pilates with Robin Long is perfect for beginners. Yoga concentrates on gentle stretching to boost your flexibility and balance. Try Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. the Texan is a great teacher for all abilities, from first-timers to experienced Yoga lovers. 

Zumba Gold:

The ultimate home workout available on Amazon prime and DVD. It brings together Latin-inspired moves and music with more traditional aerobic exercises. All classes are set a level pace and suitable for all suitable for all abilities. It’s so much fun it won’t even feel like exercise!
