Coming towards retirement we decided that we didn’t want to live in a large house, we chose McCarthy and Stone apartments because we believe they have the most to offer us.

The main reason for the move was to down-size, the sales team were very helpful in everything that we wanted to know. The McCarthy and Stone package offered was to sell our house for us, so that from signing the agreement to move, six weeks later we were ensconced in a McCarthy and Stone apartment.

The local area is superb because it has the shops within 5 minutes – 10 minutes walking, if you are fit and able you can go out and do things, but if you are not so fit and able you can join in with activities that are happening. There is usually a coffee morning once a week, we’ve had quite a few parties in the residents' lounge.

Our daughters were overjoyed, and actually came to see the McCarthy and Stone apartment before we moved, just to get the seal of approval. Our daughters do appreciate us being in McCarthy and Stone, we feel very secure.

Life has changed dramatically, we have so much more leisure time. The house work doesn’t take any time, the decorating doesn’t take much doing. It’s lovely just walking around on one floor, without having to walk up and down stairs.

We’ve spoken to a number of our friends and some have even visited us and have been amazed at what a McCarthy and Stone apartment is actually like. I think an interesting point was made by one of our neighbours, that living in a McCarthy and Stone property, the hallways are like the street, that behind your closed front door, it’s your house, but you’ve got very close neighbours.
