It has been "every time lucky" for Sarah Goble, who is enjoying life in her third McCarthy & Stone retirement property.

When she moved from Cardiff to Marlborough two years ago to be near her family, Mrs Goble chose a two-bedroom apartment at Churchill Court in Kelham Gardens, Marlborough.

She had previously been living at the company's Glendower Court retirement development in Cardiff, where she had had first a one-bedroom and then a two-bedroom apartment.

Mrs Goble said: " I like the security of the McCarthy & Stone lifestyle. I can go out, just lock my door and know that everything will be all right wherever I go. Like all McCarthy & Stone developments, Churchill Court is protected by TV camera security at the main entrance which means that residents can see who's outside from the comfort of their own armchairs.

The Careline system operates 24 hours a day and is installed in each apartment and throughout the building. In case of emergency it can contact the resident house manager, or the central command which is linked to the emergency services.

It was Mrs Goble's son and daughter-in-law who found Churchill Court and took her to have a look round when she was visiting from Cardiff.

Mrs Goble said: "They love Marlborough and they knew I'd like it too. My two sons live in Hungerford and Henley-on-Thames and there are good road links to both those places. It's easier than when I was living in Cardiff.

"I knew Churchill Court would suit me because I'd been living in a McCarthy & Stone development for about seven years, and I knew what I'd be coming into."

Churchill Court is designed to the classic McCarthy & Stone specification which includes a selection of one- and two-bedroom apartments, a residents' lounge for socialising and relaxation, a laundry room, a lift to all floors, a guest suite and a landscaped garden.

Mrs Goble said: "I like the double glazing in my flat which keeps the heating bills down, and the kitchen is nicely designed.

I still keep in touch with them and if I go to Cardiff I can stay in the guest suite there for only £9. A former neighbour is going to visit me soon and stay in my second bedroom."
