New retirement apartments planned for sale in Yate, Bristol.

McCarthy & Stone pioneered the concept of private retirement housing in the UK and have retirement developments nationwide.

Retirement living from McCarthy & Stone however is so much more than just a retirement flat. It’s designed to enable older retired home owners to lead an active, independent lifestyle, without many of the maintenance worries often associated with home ownership; all in a safe and secure environment.

The town of Yate is 11 miles from Bristol and borders Chipping Sodbury to the east. It is surrounded by countryside yet has excellent transport links to Bristol City Centre and the surrounding towns and villages. Yate railway station is on the main Bristol to Birmingham line, and there are plenty of regular bus services from the bus station in the shopping centre.

Westerleigh Road, where the site is located, is approximately 500 metres level walk from Yate amenities and shopping centre where there are more than 100 shops, with a choice of high street stores and quaint independent retailers. There are plenty of activities and places to visit in the area including Yate Common also known as German Fields, which is used for dog walking, nature watching, kite flying, circuses and fairs; the 'Somerset Monument' on the Cotswold Edge at Hawkesbury Upton, and Westonbirt Arboretum. There are two cricket clubs, one at Chipping Sodbury and the other at Frampton Cotterell; a local leisure centre; outdoor sports complex and bowling green.

There is an annual music festival, and a three-yearly Engage Festival at Wickwar, which this year will be combined for the first time ever with the Festival of Youth Sport to mark the Olympics.

J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series of books, was born in nearby Chipping Sodbury and moved later to the village of Winterbourne.

The Yate development is currently subject to planning permission, but it is our hope to construct independent living retirement flats for the over 60's. The retirement apartments will be managed by a house manager who will oversee the running of the building including maintenance of the grounds and building.

Key retirement living related features of the development will include a communal residents' lounge, a guest suite, laundry room and a lift that will provide access to all floors. The perfect environment for those in retirement, homes in this retirement development will each contain a bedroom, living room, kitchen and shower room with level access shower and the option to change to a bath if required.
