Widely recognised as the gateway to Cornwall, the traditional market town of Launceston overlooking the River Tamar has been of great interest in Cornwall's history for nearly a thousand years having once been its ancient capital.

Situated just off the main A30 and being virtually on the Cornish border the town is ideally located for visiting both the north and south coastlines of Devon and Cornwall with their beautiful villages and beaches. Dartmoor is to the east of Launceston and Bodmin Moor to the west.

The town is served by buses and a bus service to Liskeard connects with trains to Plymouth and onwards to London.

Launceston has a wide range of shops and services including two shopping arcades and supermarkets. There is a farmers market held every Friday morning and a mixed market including local produce on the first Saturday of every month in the town square.
