Baileyfield Road, where the site is located, is a 450m level walk from the main shopping area on Portobello High Street where there are a number of quality local shops and facilities including a supermarket, post office, bank, bakery, hairdresser and newsagent. There are also several independent boutique stores featuring ladies fashions, art and crafts stores, antique and gift shops. The site is also ideally located for local public transport links, with bus and rail links travelling to the City Centre and further afield.

A wide range of leisure facilities can be found in the local area including the Portobello swimming centre which is home to one of only 3 remaining Turkish Baths in Scotland; 2 golf courses at Musselburgh, and Duddingston Golf Course, Loch and Bird Sanctuary within a few miles. Portobello Beach on the seafront boosts many bars and bistros, and is not far from the geological attraction of Joppa Rocks. There is also an indoor and outdoor bowling centre near the development, and the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and the Royal Yacht Britannia at Leith Docks, only a short bus ride away.

We have recently secured planning permission for this contemporary development of 49 one and two bedroom apartments for the over 60's. Construction is planned to commence in February 2012 and we will welcome our first residents in January 2014. There will be ample garden space with seating areas throughout and a greenhouse with raised planters.  In addition, an Atrium feature is planned for inside the building.

The retirement apartments will be managed by a house manager who will oversee the running of the building including maintenance of the grounds and building.
