New Assisted Living retirement apartments are planned for sale in Lymington, Hampshire

McCarthy & Stone pioneered the concept of private purpose built retirement housing in the UK over 30 years ago. An Assisted Living retirement development bridges the gap between more conventional retirement living and residential care or a nursing home, by offering a range of additional features designed to help residents retain their independence and importantly, for those in retirement, home ownership.

The additional features, which extend to both the retirement flats and the communals include a waitress service restaurant plus domestic assistance and personal care that can be tailored to meet the changing needs of residents in retirement.

Construction of our new assisted living retirement apartments in Lymington, Hampshire started in December 2009. The completed retirement development will consist of 42 one and two bedroom assisted living apartments, with first occupations scheduled for winter 2010/early 2011.

This new assisted living retirement development is ideally located in the Georgian market town of Lymington, in Southampton Road. Lymington is situated between Southampton and Bournemouth, on the southern edge of the picturesque New Forest.

The retirement flats will be ideally positioned for the local shops and amenities of Lymington High Street which has a mix of independent and well known high street brands to cater for your everyday needs. There is a market held every Saturday in the High Street with a selection of traders supplying a range of goods.

Lymington is surrounded by the natural beauty of Hampshire; to the north are the stunning woodlands and heathlands of the New Forest, and the Solent and the Isle of Wight are located to the south of the town. A ferry can be taken directly from Lymington to Yarmouth, operated by Wightlink Ferries. To the west are four miles of coastal nature reserve ending at Hurst Spit which has received recognition as a site of special scientific interest.

Lymington is also renowned for its sailing. There are two large marinas in Lymington; Berthon and Haven, and two sailing clubs; Royal Lymington Yacht Club and Lymington Town. The Old Town Quay, located at the bottom of the High Street, is still used as a base by commercial fishing boats.

Lymington is also very well situated for travel, the town's railway station links directly to the mainline at Brockenhurst with connections on to Southampton, Bournemouth, London Waterloo and Weymouth and across Hampshire.  Bus routes link Lymington to Ringwood, Christchurch, Bournemouth, Lyndhurst and many other surrounding towns and villages. For longer journeys the nearest airports are Southampton and Bournemouth.

An Estates Manager will oversee the running of the retirement apartments, and staff will be on site 24hours a day. Key assisted living related features of the development will include a residents' lounge, laundry room, waitress service restaurant (in the event of illness meals can be taken to a residents flat), function room and lifts that give access to all floors, one hour of domestic assistance is available each week and further assistance can be tailored to individual needs.

The perfect environment for those in retirement, homes in our assisted living retirement development will each contain a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom containing both a bath and separate level access shower.
