Hoylake is also home to the Royal Liverpool Golf Course which is less than a third of a mile away from Sandbanks.  This course is the second oldest seaside links course in England, and in 2006, it hosted the Golf Open Championship, and has played host to many high profile tournaments.  Golf's Women's' Open is due to be held here in 2012, and the Open Championship is currently scheduled to take place here again in 2014.
