New retirement apartments planned for sale in Heathfield, East Sussex.
McCarthy & Stone pioneered the concept of private retirement housing in the UK and have retirement developments nationwide.
Retirement Living from McCarthy & Stone however is so much more than just a retirement flat. It's designed to enable older retired home owners to lead an active, independent lifestyle, without many of the maintenance worries often associated with home ownership; all in a safe and secure environment.
The market town of Heathfield in East Sussex is surrounded by the High Weald in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with magnificent views to the south coast and South Downs from the High Street. It is 16 miles from the coastal resort of Eastbourne and 17 miles from the historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The original settlement at Old Heathfield grew up along a ridge of the High Weald, close to where ancient routes meet at Cross-in-Hand. Today, Heathfield lies near the junction of two main roads: the A267 between Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne; and the A265 from Hawkhurst.
Heathfield is home to the largest one day agricultural show in South East England, as well as The Cuckoo Trail, a popular attraction used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The town has a library and a host of other shops and amenities including banks, a post office and a large supermarket. Several community based activities are available such as the Decorative and Fine Arts Society; Heathfield Choral Society; Flower Club; History Society; Heathfield Drama, HFLD Silver Band and the Horticultural Society. In addition, a community partnership and committee was formed five years ago with the aim of building an indoor swimming pool in the town.
There are two regular bus shopping services between Heathfield and Eastbourne and other services provide access to the surrounding villages and towns of Sandy Cross; Broad Oak; Five Ashes; Hadlow Down; Burlow and Maynard's Green.
The retirement flats will be on Mutton Hall Hill which is within walking distance of the High Street, and ideally located for shops and services.
We anticipate construction to start on the Heathfield development in August 2011, it is our intention to construct independent living retirement flats for the over 60's with sales release January 2012 and first occupations anticipated in July 2012.
The retirement apartments will be managed by a house manager who will oversee the running of the development including maintenance of the grounds and building. Key retirement living related features of the development will include a communal residents' lounge, a guest suite, laundry room and a lift that will provide access to all floors.
The perfect environment for those in retirement, homes in this retirement development will each contain a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, with the option to change to a shower if required.
