The beautiful surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, fishing and golfing, in particular Forfar Loch Country Park where Forfar Sailing Club is based.  Other attractions include the Mountains Animal Sanctuary at Brechin which is a haven for rescued horses, ponies & donkeys, and Glamis Castle, the ancestral home of the Earls of Strathmore for over 600 years, both of which are a short distance from Forfar.
