New Luxury Apartments are planned for sale in East Grinstead, West Sussex

Surrounded by some of the finest countryside in the South East of England, East Grinstead is an ancient market town situated where the River Medway rises and the vast swathes of Ashdown Forest begins.  Many local beauty spots and attractions are within easy reach, such as Weir Wood Reservoir; Lingfield Park race course and Winnie the Pooh country.   Despite being close to Crawley and the M23 and M25 motorways, East Grinstead offers a plethora of shops, clubs, restaurants, country pubs and coffee shops, and has retained its own identity as a quiet and pleasant town, with friendly locals and a good community spirit.  The town participates in the South East in Bloom competition, and hosts shows, art exhibitions and other productions at Chequer Meads Art Centre.

East Grinstead has some interesting historic sites including Sackville College, where the Christmas carol "Good King Wenceslas" was written, as well as the longest run of 14th century timber framed buildings in the country, and many 15th and 16th century buildings and examples of Georgian and Regency styles.

Nearby Kingscote station houses the northern terminus of the famous Bluebell Railway, from where you can travel to Sheffield Park and view a historic collection of locomotives and rolling stock at the National Railway Museum.  Just outside  East Grinstead town lies Standen, an Arts and Crafts country house designed in the 1890's by the architect Philip Webb and known for its William Morris wallpapers, textiles and contemporary fittings.

East Grinstead is situated in the middle of four counties - East and West Sussex, Surrey and Kent, with the Greenwich Meridian running through the town centre.  The prime meridian that separates East from West is celebrated at East Court, the 1768 mansion set in its own parkland within the town.    Nearby towns include Crawley, Tunbridge Wells, Redhill and Reigate.   East Grinstead benefits from good transport links by road, rail or bus to the surrounding towns of Felbridge, Forest Row, Turners Hill, Copthorne and further afield to Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Planning was granted in July 2010 for an exclusive development of 23 luxury two bedroom apartments for the over 55's.  The anticipated construction start month is Summer 2011 with a Sales Launch early 2012 and first occupations in August 2012.  Situated on Fairfield Road, these apartments will enjoy a luxury specification, and be surrounded by landscaped gardens incorporating mature trees.
