McCarthy & Stone have recently exchanged contracts on this site in Devizes, adjacent to the Kennet & Avon Canal. The development is subject to planning permission hoping to achieve 38 one and two bedroom retirement apartments.

Devizes, a market town situated in the County of Wiltshire, is famous for the 29 Locks on the Kennet & Avon Canal, built by Rennie and is one of the largest flights in the country. It has examples of fine Georgian houses and a 19th century castle. It is also home to the Wiltshire Heritage Museum which is home to collections of Wiltshire history. Just outside the town at Roundway Down, colourful re-enactments of 17th century confrontations can be enjoyed during the summer months.

The town centre is located a level walk away from the site and encompasses a number of specialist retailers, traditional pubs and cafes, together with a weekly outdoor Market held on a Thursday and indoor markets held at The Shambles. Festivals are held in Devizes in June and September and there is a carnival in August/September.

The Wadworth's brewery is situated in the town with a Visitor Centre offering tours of the site. Shire Horses are still a regular sight drawing the brewer's dray.

Should planning be achieved, the development will be managed by a house manager who will oversee the running of the building including maintenance of the grounds and building.
